8mm “BREVET” Big Crown:
The defining characteristic of this piece is its oversized crown. In an era before crown guards, the exposed 8mm crown commands an incredible presence. The surface is engraved with "BREVET" (indicating the then-pending patent), a hallmark of originality that excites the seasoned collector.
Mirror Gilt Dial:

However, this particular specimen features the “100m=330ft” marking—a spec usually reserved for the previous generation.
Our assessment confirms no signs of a "redial" (refinishing); the texture and quality of the lettering are exquisite. While older theories from the 1990s suggested these might be dials transplanted from a Ref. 6536, the minute differences in crystal ring diameters make such a swap physically improbable without leaving visible traces.
We believe this unique configuration stems from one of two possibilities:
Lettering was professionally added later to a dial that was originally "no-depth."
It survives as a rare "irregular" model produced outside of standard chronometer specifications during the manufacturing transition.
The fact that it bears the "100m" mark rather than the standard "200m" only adds to the enigmatic charm and individual soul of this specific timepiece.

BHI is a watch technician who has completed the master's program of the association and is certified, and is also called a BHI certified person. The association is a national institution that restores and protects British-owned cultural heritage watches and certifies national watchmakers. They are based in Upton Village, Nottinghamshire. Watch technology originated in the Kingdom of the United Kingdom, and even today, about 90% of those who have a qualification as a watch engineer in the United Kingdom have BHI certification or are in the master's program aiming for acquisition. BHI also protects over 1000 watches from the Royal Collection, including minute repeaters and perpetual calendars at Buckingham Palace, and the Big Ben clock tower at Palace of Westminster.
