1956-1964 Rolex Submariner Ref.6538
幻と言われるロレックス社サブマリーナRef.6538になります。　Ref.6538は、サブマリーナで4代目（第2世代）にあたるモデルです。　同時期（1956年頃〜1964年頃）に販売されていたRef.6536と酷似しますが、Ref.6536と6538の決定的な違いは防水性です。　一般へ普及を狙ってつくられた6536は6538の廉価版とされており、6536が防水100mなのに対し、6538は200m。200mはサブマリーナー史上初めての200m防水でクロノメーター規格になります。　初期の6538は、ダイヤルにクロノメーター表記が無いモデルも存在し、この個体はそれになります。　一番のポイントは“デカリューズ”と呼ばれている8mmの大きなリューズです。　ノンガードでこの特徴的なデカリューズを備えるサブマリーナのリファランスは絞られていて、Ref.6200、Ref.6538、Ref.5510と市場の流通量は極めて少なく希少性が高いです。　更に、Cal.1030は世界初の両回転巻き上げ式ローター搭載で当時最高クラスの精度を誇ります。　ケース径も他モデルより1mm大きい38ｍｍで、6538は極めて異色なモデルでありながら、大変完成度の高いサブマリーナなのです。

007 ジェームズ・ボンドと腕時計の関係性
イギリスのハードボイルド系推理小説家イアン・フレミングの作品に登場する主人公の名前で、コードネームは007。名前の由来は、彼が尊敬している鳥類学者から拝借した名前なのだそうです。　1962年に初めて公開された映画『“007” Dr.No（ドクター・ノオ）』で、イギリスの秘密諜報部員としてジェームズ・ボンドが登場します。　第三作目『“007” ゴールドフィンガー』で、ボンドが某国へ潜入工作を企て、爆破時刻を確認するためにライターで自身の腕につけている時計を照らすシーンがあります。　そのシーンで腕時計がクローズアップされて、全世界の時計愛好家たちがロレックスのどのモデルかを特定するために大論争が巻き起こりました。最後の最後まで、外見が酷似しているRef.5510が候補として残りましたが、結論として6538であると断定されました。　以降、007シリーズに於いて、ジェームズ・ボンドが身に付ける腕時計は、ファンにとって話題の的となり各時計メーカーしのぎを削って採用されることをねらっています。
ちなみに映画のシーンでは、ジェームズ・ボンドはナイロン製のNATOストラップを取り付けて着用しています。これは舞台がイギリスだったため、ピカピカ光るブレスレットよりも紳士に映るナイロンストラップに変更したそうです。そして当時は映像が不鮮明で黒とグレーの二本のラインがボンドストラップとされていましたが、近年技術の進歩により正確な色を特定されて、ネイビーブルーに赤で縁取りされたオリーブグリーンの二本のラインです。

The Ref.6538 Submariner is a very rare timepiece, featuring an original tropical gilt dial, "Big Crown" and no crown guard. Manufactured between 1954 and 1959, this watch has a special place in history, as it is considered the original "James Bond - 007" Submariner, worn by Sean Connery in several films. The association is a national institution that restores and protects British-owned cultural heritage watches and certifies national watchmakers. They are based in Upton Village, Nottinghamshire. Watch technology originated in the Kingdom of the United Kingdom, and even today, about 90% of those who have a qualification as a watch engineer in the United Kingdom have BHI certification or are in the master's program aiming for acquisition.
