Cal.3185, which was first installed in the GMT-Master II (Ref.16710), features a single short hand drive, and when used in combination with a bi-directional rotating bezel, it is possible to read up to the third time. The difference from the previous movement, Cal.3085, is that the bridge that supports the balance has been changed from a single to a twin, and the adjustment mechanism has been changed from a Micro Stella screw to a Micro Stella nut. This change has added stability in terms of accuracy, and it has become possible to perform maintenance more effectively because it is possible to easily perform backlash adjustment.
The micro Stella nut of the adjustment mechanism has a free sprung specification, which eliminates wear due to friction, increasing durability and improving vibration resistance.
In addition to Rolex, the free sprung specification was also used in luxury brand watches such as Patek Philippe, Lange & Söhne, Breguet, etc. Among movements in the 1990s, It can be said that it is a movement of the highest class in terms of both function and practicality.
